The Upper Zemplin Library, Vranov nad Toplou is the regional library for the district of Vranov nad Topľou, functioning as a co-ordination and inter-library loans centre for municipal libraries within its catchment area, as well as being the principal public library in Vranov nad Topľou. It offers a wide range of services to the public including lending and reference books, magazines and local newspapers, CDs, DVDs and videos and CD-ROMs.

Since the establishment of school in 1949, the library is building up a specialized collection of books and documents concerning visual arts and selectively also related social sciences (aesthetics, philosophy, psychology, general history, etc.). The Academic Library is a professional specialized department of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

The Central Library of SAS is among the libraries where their age does not determinate the date of their formation. When counting the age of the Central Library of SAS (it holds its name since April 1954) we must not forget its predecessors. The library immediately followed up on them and overtook their funds. From this perspective, the library is one of the oldest in Slovakia.

Established in 1999, the Matej Hrebenda Slovak Library for the Blind in Levoča is the national library and information centre for visually handicapped people in the Slovak Republic and for Slovaks living abroad.

The Slovak Pedagogical Library is a specialised scientific library with a nationwide scope, focusing on the area of education, training and related disciplines. Thanks to its activities it provides free access to information on all media, meets a variety of cultural, informational, scientific research and educational needs, encourages lifelong learning and spiritual development. It works as a methodological library-information education centre.

The State Scientific Library in Košice, a universal scientific library accessible to the widest public, is a cultural, information and educational institution focusing on library, bibliographic, scientific, research, cultural and educational as well as editorial activities. It offers free access to information and supports lifelong education.

The Technical University Library is a specialised library which, corresponding to the orientation of the University itself, offers a wide range of information services. The library collection consists of 222,400 library units, 135,100 books, 1,038 serial titles, 100 videocassette titles, CD-ROM databases and Current Contents on Diskette databases.

The University of St Cyril and Methodius in Trnava Library is open to all readers.

The main mission of the Academy of Arts, Banská Bystrica Library is to provide library-information service to serve and facilitate the educational process and artistic and scientific activity of the university staff, university students but also users from other sites.

The European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA) is an independent umbrella association of national library, information, documentation and archive associations and institutions in Europe. Its secretariat is hosted by the Netherlands Public Library Association in The Hague.

The library was founded in 1973 as a District Library in Banská Bystrica. It adopted its current name Mikuláš Kováč Public Library in Banská Bystrica in 1997. Since 2002 it has been under the founder’s competence of Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region. The Library of Orava Region acts as a cultural, educational and information center, fulfils a task of regional public library - it is a professional methodological administrator to subordinate public libraries of regions Dolný Kubín, Námestovo Tvrdošín and also acts as a municipal library for citizens of Dolný Kubín. Galanta Library is the regional library for the district of Galanta, functioning as a co-ordination and inter-library loans centre for municipal libraries within its catchment area, as well as being the principal public library in Galanta. About the Librarylife. A lot of associations with the the cultural, social, philanthropic and sports activities flourished here in recent centuries. In 1925 the muncipal public library of Jan Kollar started KREMNICA – a free royal mining town experienced a very rich and colorful community its activities – the library transformed into a present Ján Kollár Library Kremnica.

Novohrad Library in Lučenec originated as the Town Library, the first public library in Lučenec which was damaged by fire in 1849; it was re-established in 1851 with a gift of 5,000 publications from Augustin Kubinyi of Vidina. By 1900 the library had about 20,500 publications. In July 1951 the library became the Regional People’s Library.

Public library of Michal Rešetka in Trenčin is cultural, information and educational institution with its reference within the self-governing region of Trenčin. It performs the function of a town public library for city of Trenčin and hereby the function of regional library for territorial unit of Trenčin, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Bánovce nad Bebravou and Myjava districts. Library fund of Public library of Michal Rešetka contains about 250 thousand bands of books and special documents (audiovisual, electronic), 384 titles of periodicals and regional documents.

Turiec Library, Martin is the regional library for the districts of Martin and Turčianske Teplice , functioning as a co-ordination and inter-library loans centre for municipal libraries within its catchment area, as well as being the principal public library in Martin. It offers a wide range of services to the public including lending and reference books, magazines and local newspapers, CDs, DVDs and videos and CD-ROMs.

Regional Library Ludovit Stur in Zvolen is a public regional cultural, information and educational establishment, which acquires, processes, stores, preserves and provides access to library resources and provides library-information services.

Ľubovňa Library in Stará Ľubovňa is the regional library for the district of Stará Ľubovňa, functioning as the methodological centre for municipal libraries within its catchment area and for the city library in Stará Ľubovňa. It offers lending and reference books, magazines and local newspapers and an inter-library loan service. The library provides a reading room with a rich collection of regional literature and public-access PCs with the Internet access. It also organises a regular programme of cultural and educational events.
