Sereď is located on the Váh River in southern Slovakia, around 20 kilometres south east of Trnava, 33 kilometres west of Nitra and 55 kilometres east from Bratislava. It lies at an altitude of 129 metres above sea level.
Sereď covers an area of 30.454 square kilometres and has a total population of 17,224 (2005).
