Námestovo is located in the foothills of the Orava Highlands in northern Slovakia, around 15 kilometres from Tvrdošín and 30 kilometres from Dolný Kubín. It is the capital and largest town of Námestovo District in Žilina Region.
Námestovo covers an area of 44.474 square kilometres and has a total population of 8,094 (2005).
