Ružomberok is situated on the Váh River in the historical Liptov region of northern Slovakia, surrounded by the Chocské vrchy, Greater Fatra and Low Tatra mountain ranges. It is located around 65 kilometres from Žilina, 190 kilometres from Košice and 260 kilometres from Bratislava.
