The Szőttes Folkloric Ensemble is the representative ensemble of the Hungarian folk culture in Slovakia. Its members are amateur dancers who are interested in Hungarian folk culture and are willing to spend most of their free-time preparing and performing their shows.

The Ensemble was established in 1969 with the aim to explore, cultivate and preserve the universal Hungarian folk tradition as well as the heritage of neighbouring nations, with special emphasis on folk dances, songs and instrumental music. The very essence of the Szőttes lies in the way how these values are staged – paying special attention to authenticity.

Besides performing in Slovakia’s Hungarian settlements, the Ensemble has been invited and participated in many international folklore festivals home and abroad, as in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy, Venezuela and Portugal.

The Szőttes Folkloric Ensemble has been honoured by various awards, including the Golden Medal of the XXIth International Folklore Festival in 1986 in Gorizia, Italy, and has been recognised as an 'Excellently-Qualified Ensemble' by the György Martin Folkdance Association, Hungary several times.

The Ensemble comprises a dance company (up to 20 dancers), a music band (3-4 musicians), technicians, artistic directors and programme manager.
