The Museum of Transport, Bratislava was opened in June 1999 as a branch of the Slovak Technical Museum in Košice. Housed in a railway storehouse near Bratislava Railway Station, the museum displays artefacts collected over a period of 70 years illustrating the history and development of road and railway transport in Slovakia.

The development of road transport is presented through a wide selection of exhibits ranging from coaches and fire engines to motorcycles, cars and lorries from the early 20th century up to the 1970s. The oldest exhibit is a Praga of 1911 owned by Mr Prihoda from Prague. There is also a collection of BMW cars and Bohmerland motorcycles.

Railway transport is represented by 19th- and 20th-century steam engines, freight carriages and a steam crane situated on the railway track in front of the store. The locomotive and rolling stock exhibition is enlarged on a seasonal basis with visiting exhibits owned by the Slovak State Railways.

There is also an exhibition of Railway signalling, announcing and providing technology. This includes a late 19th-century hundred-bulb mechanical steering, three-sign mechanical presage and remote (Schonbach) steering system, presently the oldest exhibit of the collection. Announcing technology is represented by a collection of wall and table telephones, telegraphs and other equipment for wireless communication and station information systems dating from the late 1940s. The development of providing technology is illustrated by the display of Siemens and Ericsson electromechanical and CKD _AD 34 mechanical equipment.
