Homeland Museum, Hlohovec
Established in 1959, the Homeland Museum at Hlohovec is a typical regional museum of homeland character whose collections represent the basic branches of social and natural sciences. The museum is located in the Franciscan Monastery at Hlohovec, built in 1942 on the orders of Vavrinec Ujlaky and now a protected cultural monument, with an additional exhibition hall on Razusova Street.
Exhibitions include: Historical Furniture dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, displayed in the monastery refectory; Hlohovec - Feudal Town, representing the early history of Hlohovec; a natural exposition on Hlohovec and its surroundings formed by samples of vertebrate animals which live in the area; Women's National Costume, a display of typical women’s national costumes of the Hlohovec, Trnava and Piestany regions; an archaeological exposition which presents artefacts from the primeval and earlier historical period; and a restored burgher house interior from the 18th and 19th centuries incorporating original furniture and portraits of members of the Erdődy family.
