Established in 1969 as the District Museum at Galanta and renamed in 1990, the Homeland Museum documents the history of the milling trade in the Malý Dunaj (Little Danube) River Basin and the lower reaches of the River Váh.
The museum’s home since 1970 has been the Neo Gothic Mansion in Galanta, which was built in 1860 by the Esterházy family in the style of Romantic English Tudor Gothic. However, since that building is currently undergoing repair and restoration, the museum is temporarily located in a former bank building in the centre of the town. Temporary exhibition space is also available here.
