Áčko Festival - logoThe Áčko Students' Film Festival is an open competitive festival of school audiovisual works created as part of university study in the field of film art and multimedia or related fields at a university based in the Slovak Republic. It is also open to school audiovisual works created at higher education institutions abroad. The mission of the festival is to present the creative results of students, enabling their mutual comparison and creating the conditions for autoreflection and reflection of the current state in this area.

The festival has been organised since 1994. From its second year (1995) foreign films were also presented at the festival, in its 3rd year (1997) it became a competitive festival for works from VŠMU, in its 7th year (2001) the competitive section was opened up to other higher education institutions of audiovisual specialisation, and in the jubilee 10th year (2006) the festival began to feature an international competition of students' films, the winners of which had been decided by the international jury. The festival's main organiser is the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava. Students of the faculty participate in its programming, organisation and production provision within their school duties. The competition of school audiovisual works comprises the core of each year’s festival programme.
