Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (VŠMU) - Faculty of Film and Television
The Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts is one of the faculties of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava. It is the youngest faculty of the school; established in 1990 by act of federal government. As the only educational centre in Slovakia it provides comprehensive and complete training of professionals in fields of film, television and multimedia.
Currently, there are seven studios at the Film and Television Faculty (Scriptwriting, Directing, Documentary, Cinematography and Photography, Animation, Editing, Sound and Music Production) and two departments: Department of Production and Distribution of Film Art and Multimedia and Department of Art Criticism and Audiovisual Studies. Subjects taught: aesthetics, philosophy, visual art history, history of cinematography, sociology, psychology etc.
The Film and Television Faculty has a three level based study program (bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees). The high teaching level is rewarded by high placement rates of graduates. Due to expertise and artistic results they are successful not only at home but also abroad.
