Pod Poľana Folklore Festival in Detva - logoPod Poľana (Beneath Poľana) Folklore Festival in Detva is a feast day of folklore where visitors, performers and guests not only from the immediate surroundings but also from abroad get together to please their senses and spirit with the unusual beauty and power of folk art. Part of the festival’s main programme involves accompanying events: the folk instrument contest Instrumentum Excellens, presentations of folk customs, a traditional folk crafts fair, dance classes, School of Playing the Shepherd’s Pipe, exhibitions etc. There is also a programme of performances by Slovak ensembles and bands living abroad called Compatriotic Sunday.

The main organiser of the festival is the town of Detva. Other organisers include: Andrej Sládkovič Cultural House in Detva and the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad.
