Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre

Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre was established in 1955 and is a professional state funded Dance Theatre. The ensemble collects, archives and performs traditional dance and music from the Carpathian region, including those of the Hungarian, Slovak, Romanian and Roma cultures. While focusing on the Hungarian heritage, the ensemble also collects performs the vibrant dances and music of all these different nationalities.

In addition to performing throughout Slovakia, in the past 10 years Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre has toured and participated in festivals throughout much of Europe as well as in Canada, Japan, Iraq, Jordan, and most recently in the USA and Australia. The ensemble is also dedicated to the preservation and continuation of this dance and music and performs regularly for children, runs a yearly dance and music seminar and in co-operation with the 'Hagyomány Alap' (Foundation for Tradition), maintains the Népzenei archívum (Folk Music Archives), dedicated to collecting and preserving traditional music and dance from the Carpathian region.

The Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre performs regularly in theaters and festivals around the world and also for tourists and visitors in their own theatre in Bratislava.
