Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava
The city of Trnava has a long and rich theatrical tradition; already at the beginning of the 17th century it was one of the most important centres of Jesuit theatre in the Kingdom of Hungary. The building itself was constructed in the 1840s and over the years has launched various professional and amateur Slovak ensembles.
A professional touring theatre for children's and youth drama was established here in 1974 by graduates of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (VŠMU), accompanied by several members of the older generation. In 1990 this company was renamed the Trnava Theatre and in 2002 it acquired its current name. Currently its repertoire includes drama productions for both adults and children.
