Theatre LUDUS
Established by Bratislava Municipal Government in 1971, LUDUS Theatre is the only professional drama theatre for children and youth in Bratislava. It is a theatre where university students studying art have the chance to gain experience; a theatre with a programme which offers students studying art the opportunity to integrate in the sphere of professional theatre work; and the only professional theatre for children and youth in Slovakia with a stage where young non-professionals (children and young people aged between 10 and 18) present their theatre project to their colleagues on a regular basis.
LUDUS Theatre seeks to introduce theatre plays and other forms of dramatic, educational and entertainment art to children and youth. The dramaturgy of LUDUS Theatre focuses on: (i) authentic and contemporary plays on the theme of growing up, searching and finding oneself and one's values, current joys and worries; (ii) the national classics interpreted by LUDUS Theatre; (iii) classic tales and sci-fi genres; (iv) theatre activities beyond the sphere of the traditional stage (open-air and street theatre and interdisciplinary art productions); and (v) theatre educational compositions according to Comenius' principle ‘Let’s Learn through Play’.
LUDUS Theatre hosts the secretariat of ASSITEJ Slovakia.
