The Faculty of Social Sciences was established in 2001 because of the need for competent specialists and client-oriented social help which arose from the social changes of the time. The Faculty was established by the connection of two workplaces, which co-operated separately in the field of social sciences taught within the already existing faculties of the university. The Faculty was renamed as the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care in 2004.
