The Directorate General for Public Diplomacy and Services for Citizens is responsible for information and press-related activities, public relations, administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, cultural diplomacy, expatriates, Slovak Institutes, Diplomatic Archive and MFA Library, consular activities, citizens assistance and honorary consulates. It incorporates the Consular Department (Consular assistance, consular units and departments at embassies and general consulates, visas, legalisation (certification) of documents, Schengen), the Press Department (Communication with media, accreditation of foreign journalists, media monitoring), the Cultural Diplomacy Department (Management of Slovak Institutes, culture and art, Slovak expatriates, cultural grant schemes, cultural agreements, scholarships for foreigners), the Public Diplomacy Department (Administration of web pages and the Intranet, public relations, publishing activities), the Citizens Assistance and Services Centre (Contact, expert and consular services for the public. Handling of applications related to free access to information – Act No. 211/2000 Coll. The Centre monitors unexpected, crisis and life-threatening events, takes the necessary measures in cooperation with Slovak embassies and informs the general public), the Slovak Honorary Consulates Unit(Slovak Honorary Consulates agenda) and the Archive and Library Department (MFA diplomatic archive, archive collection of international bilateral and multilateral agreements, pre-archive and archive care, research agenda, search, MFA library, library cataloguing, study room, preparation of databases, MFA Diplomatic Museum).
