Minstry of Culture of the Slovak RepublicThe Directorate of Multilateral Co-operation co-ordinates activities of the Ministry in the field of European affairs and multilateral co-operation. It prepares proposals for the accession of the Slovak Republic to multilateral international contractual documents in the field of culture. It is responsible for preparation and creation of the content filling of the multilateral international documents in the field of culture and it is also responsible for co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in the socio-diplomatic sphere.

This Directorate oversees the fulfilment of the obligations arising for the cultural section from the membership of the Slovak Republic in the European Union, the Council of Europe, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the Central European Initiative (CEI) and other international organisations. It also oversees the fulfilment of the tasks which arise for the cultural section from international treaties and conventions. The Directorate co-ordinates the co-operation of the Ministries of Culture of the Visegrad Group countries (V4) and the preparation of joint projects and initiatives.

The Directorate also co-ordinates the participation of representatives of the cultural section and experts in the committees, commissions and working groups within the European Union, the Council of Europe and other international organisations.

Furthermore, the Directorate prepares analytical, conceptual and information materials from the field of multilateral co-operation. While performing its tasks, it co-operates particularly with the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the European Union in Brussels, the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic in the Council of Europe, and the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to UNESCO in Paris.
