The Directorate General of Tourism is responsible for (i) drafting and co-ordinating the implementation of the strategy and concept development of tourism in Slovakia; (ii) developing and evaluating the principles of the state tourism policy; (iii) drawing up proposals for legislative acts relating to tourism; (iv) co-ordinating foreign relations and international co-operation in the field of tourism; and (v) co-operating with other ministries and higher territorial units. Its basic aim is to acquire new markets and secure the optimal needs of domestic and foreign visitors in the Slovak tourism industry.
