Library, Institute of Musicology Slovak Academy of Sciences
The Institute of Musicology SAS Library provides library-information and bibliographical services, creates related databases, studies, systematically acquisires and processes professional literature and scientific information, provides inter-library and international loan services, organises international exchange of publications, provides lending services, builds catalogues, and makes its funds available to both internal and external users.
The Institute of Musicology SAS holds and maintains rare documents of traditional musical and dance folklore culture and traditional musical instruments. Its collection covers tens of thousands of written records of songs on index cards (the oldest one is from 1914), photographs, thousands of audio recordings, hundreds of audiovisual recordings on 16mm films and on electronic storage. The library of the Institute has a long tradition and it is focused on musicological literature.
