Information Centre of Banská Bystrica

Information Centre of Banská Bystrica was established as the Cultural and Information Centre /KIS/ as soon as in 1985, as a department by the Culture and Entertainment Park- a municipal allowance organisation. They have provided the services of a tourist information office since 1992. It is a founding member of the Association of Information Centres of Slovakia (AICES) with the headquarters in Liptovský Mikuláš and a member of Bystriciensis - the association for tourism located in Banská Bystrica.

The activities of the Information Centre include:

- providing information about the city and its surroundings, mainly from the field of tourism,

- updating and processing of the database of entrepreneurs and institutions in the city,

- providing information on site, through „infotel“ (information phone number): 186 048/16, e-mail and fax

- providing guided tours around the city and the surrounding with lectures of qualified homeland guides in the city and the surroundings in English, German, French, Hungarian, Russian, Polish, Italian and Spanish,

- organising of the training-course "Homeland Guide through the City and its Surroundings",

-displaying posters on display areas under the administration of the Information Centre of Banská Bystrica,

- accommodation service in the city and near surroundings,

- tips for trips into the surroundings, hiking opportunities, leisure activities in and around the city,

- promotion of the city and the region at exhibitions of tourism at home and abroad as well as in professional publications,

- regular update of the website,

- advance sale of tickets directly in the Information Centre of Banská Bystrica,

- sales point of the Ticketportal network,

- sale of promotion materials, representative publications, tourist maps and tourist guides, postcards and gifts exclusively aimed at the promoting of the city and Slovakia and

- working with subjects in the field of tourism and cultural institutions in the area of Banská Bystrica.
