Nadácia otvorenej spoločnosti - Open Society Foundation, Bratislava
The Open Society Foundation is a non-governmental organisation which has operated in Slovakia since 1992. It is part of the international network of Soros foundations. The mission of the foundation is to create opportunities for people to improve their societies toward more openness, transparency, and the promotion of equal opportunities implemented in various programme and grant making activities.
The Foundation supports activities of the marginalised groups within society with regard to exercising human rights, developing philanthropy and the non-governmental sector, promoting the principles of democratic governance and the transparency of public processes, developing education at all levels, organising public health activities and raising the quality of the media.
Among the priority projects of the Foundation are grants in education and scholarships, primarily designed for disadvantaged youth, Roma citizens, etc.
