Monuments Board - logoThe Spišská Nová Ves branch office of the Košice Regional Centre of the Monuments Board of the Slovak Republic with its seat in Levoča is a field department which carries out the state supervision of the protection of monuments on the territory of the districts of Spišská Nová Ves and Gelnica. The town of Levoča in Prešov Region is its seat.

It directs the activities of the citizens in saving, renovating, restoring and correctly using 317 immovable and 509 movable cultural monuments and conservation areas in two districts. It adopts measures to eliminate shortcomings in the protection of monuments and provides professional and methodological assistance to 52 municipalities and four towns in registering their historical monuments. It also elaborates materials for territorial planning documentation of the state administration authorities and if necessary it provides for the temporary storage of movable cultural monuments. It participates in research projects targeted on the cultural heritage of the territory in its care. Editorial, promotional and educational activities constitute a significant part of its work.

Košice Regional Heritage Office, Spišská Nová Ves Branch Office located in Levoča executes the state supervision over the provision of monuments’ protection in the district of Spišská Nová Ves. In the district of Gelnica this supervision is executed by Košice Regional Heritage Office Košice, Rožnava branch office.
