Gallery of Miloš Alexander Bazovský in Trenčín
Established in 1969, the M. A. Bazovský Gallery in Trenčín is named after National Artist Miloš Alexander Bazovský (1899-1968), an outstanding Slovak painter who spent the last years of his Iife (1962-1968) in Trenčín. It is housed in a reconstructed historical building from the turn of the 19th and 20th century in Palacký street no. 27.
Providing the core of the gallery's collection and the focus of its exhibition programme are more than 1,000 paintings and drawings by Miloš Alexander Bazovský, whose work has played an important role in the development of modern Slovak art. The second major field of the gallery's collection and exposition activity is provided by the visual arts of Slovakia from 1918 until the present day.
The M. A. Bazovský Gallery is actively engaged in documenting the artistic development of the Trenčín region, concentrating not only on artists who are still alive, but also on leading creative figures of the past who lived or created in Trenčín or whose works are connected with the region.
