Founded by Poprad Municipal Government, KOLIBA Film Studios, Bratislava, the Slovak Film Union (SFZ), the Slovak Film Institute (SFÚ) and the Slovak Mountaineering Club, the International Festival of Mountain Films, Poprad is a competitive festival which is open to all filmmakers - professionals, freelancers and amateurs. Each competitor may enter up to a maximum of three films. The festival usually attracts about 10,000 people. Productions entered may be presented at other festivals at the same time.
