International Student Film Festival Early Melons is an artistic event, focusing on various aspects of young art, connected with cinematography. Main aim of the festival is to present European student cinematography from the latest period with a special zoom on films from region of V4. Besides this, Early Melons connect various fields of art, e.g. photography, music and video-art. Main goal is to create an island of young art during five days and get together student filmmakers from EU countries. Early Melons is a festival dedicated to intercultural cooperation, crossing borders between various fields of young art. Our aim is to promote student film, video-art and photography amongst widest range of viewers. We help young filmmakers to start their professional career with finding important contacts, promotion for their films and prize money support. Situation in Slovak audiovisual culture is not very favorable; also the presentation of young art is still inefficient. A student film festival is therefore a unique platform to present Slovak and European culture, to raise film learning and media competency of young people. It is a key space for meetings of young filmmakers, film professionals and wide public. We also help young filmmakers to access the international film market.
