Kwan Clan and Kwong Sing Stories

Introduction:
The Kwong Sing store which still serves the people of Glen Innes in northern New South Wales was established in 1886. In the 1890s Percy Young (Kwan Hong Kee) joined the staff of the store. He eventually became the manager and owner of the business, and sponsored members of his extended family to join him. At a Kwan reunion in 1986, there were around 300 members in attendance. Percy Young's grandson, Harvey Young, estimates that by 2002 there were around 750 past and living members of the extended family.

Over the years there have been clan reunions, family members have researched their family histories, individuals have recorded their life stories, documents and manuscripts have been found. Some of these stories are shared here.
