Fulham Road (Stamford Bridge) Station
Chelsea Village PLC want to build a station on the West London Line to serve Chelsea FC's football stadium at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Village PLC are the owners of the football stadium on the Fulham Road and the surrounding development. They have a recently renewed planning application (p97-105) for a station adjacent to their development, on the West London Line.
If constructed, the station would have an 8-car platform for northbound trains and a 4-car platform for southbound trains. Access would be from the road to the northbound platform, and from there via a footbridge to the southbound platform.
To avoid crowd control issues, the station would close 45 mins before a match at the stadium and reopen 45 minutes after a match finished.
Network Rail and the Strategic Rail Authority objected to the renewal of the planning permission based on the fact that capacity is severely limited on the West London Line and it would be difficult to stop trains here in addition to the new stations at Imperial Wharf and Shepherd's Bush.
