Battersea Power Station development
Redevelopment of Battersea Power Station will require transport enhancements, particularly to Battersea Park station.
The biggest (ã26m) enhancement will be to Battersea Park station. Two new northern entrances will be provided (from Queen's Circus and Prince of Wales Drive) and a new mezzanine ticket hall constructed inside the viaduct. New escalators and lifts will be provided as part of the upgraded station to make it accessibility-compliant, and the four-minute walking route to the power station site will be enhanced. Twenty shops and food units will be created around the station and CCTV will be installed.
Frequent shuttle buses will be introduced between the site and Vauxhall interchange, as well as between the site and Sloane Square station.
The river jetty will be upgraded and a riverbus service provided between Chelsea Harbour, the power station, Embankment, Waterloo, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Tower and Canary Wharf. Services will operate every 10-15 mins throughout the day, and will probably be run by Thames Clippers, integrated into their existing commuter river services.
A new footbridge over the river into Pimlico is also proposed.
Network Rail and Parkview International, developers of Battersea Power Station, have agreed a deal to upgrade nearby Battersea Park station extensively, providing new entrances, escalators and lifts, a new mezzanine concourse and shops.
