According to Act No. 575/2001 Coll. on the Organisation of the Government Activity and the Organization of Central State Administration as amended, the Ministry is the central authority of public administration for:
- railways and runway transport;
- road transport;
- combined transport;
- roads;
- inland navigation and ports, maritime navigation;
- civil aviation;
- mail;
- telecommunications;
- public works;
- building code and land use planning with the exception of environmental aspects;
- building and construction products;
- creation and implementation of housing policy;
- granting the state bonus for building savings and the state contribution to a mortgage loan;
- tourism;
- energetic efficiency of edifices;
- creation and implementation of urban development policy.
The Ministry functions as the State Transport Authority and the Maritime Authority, coordinated use of funds from the European Union and the preparation of regional development policies.
