Prešov Regional Government - Tourism Department

The Department of Tourism cooperates with public administration, business sphere, tourist offices and agencies, with the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Slovak Republic ("ZHR"), the Slovak Agency for Tourism ("SACR"), with regional tourism associations, towns, villages and tourism facilities in effort of building up a tourism infrastructure for creating favorable conditions and ensuring the development of tourism in this region.

It coordinates cooperation with local authorities, government authorities and other legal and natural persons.

It cooperates with foreign partner regions in promotion of tourism, in organization of seminars and workshops, in developing and managing international projects for sub-regional tourism development and performs other tasks in order to streamline the cooperation between the public and the private sphere to ensure the development of tourism. It encourages elaboration of strategy documents in the area of tourism within the territory of the Self-governing Region of Prešov ("PSK").

The department participates in the creation of strategic documents for the implementation of EU structural funds.

It provides expert advice and consultation for applicants of funding from EU funds for tourism development.

In ambit of launched calls for presenting projects in the sector of tourism, it provides consultancy services to potential applicants.

If necessary, it issues supporting opinions on projects within declared appeals in implementing structural funds.

It cooperates with other higher regional units of Slovak Republic in field of tourism with a view of a joint move towards foreign markets when presenting Slovakia as a final destination.

The department participates in the processing of promotional materials regarding the Self-governing Region of Prešov.

It promotes tourist attraction of the Self-governing Region of Prešov at regional, national and international tourist fairs and exhibitions.

It organizes professional seminars and workshops aimed at developing tourism in the territory of the Self-governing Region of Prešov.

The department supports the creation of active tourism products.

It is involved in the development of the region's information system.

It provides consultancy for graduate students.

The Department of Tourism also ensures the fulfillment of tasks, which are for the Self-governing Region of Prešov consequential to the order of the Government.
