The Tourism and Culture Directorate of Bratislava Regional Government comprises Departments of Tourism and Culture.

In the cultural field the Directorate is responsible for the cultural development of the wider region and manages four theatre companies, a museum, a library and a cultural centre.

In the tourism field the Directorate is responsible for (i) creating the conditions for the development of tourism and co-ordinating the development of tourism in BSK; (ii) collaborating on tourism issues with central government bodies and representatives of professional organisations; (iii) drawing up strategic and conceptual documents on tourism (the project strategy for the development of tourism in BSK to 2013, the study of the current situation and investment opportunities in tourism in BSK); (iv) undertaking marketing and promotional activity and carrying out direct marketing activities through participation in tourism trade fairs and exhibitions (in 2008 it made presentations at ITF Slovakiatour, Regiontour, Holiday World, Vakantie Salon Brussels, planned - Tour Salon Poznan, WTM London) it organises events (celebrations of Tourism Day) and it works with the specialist community (information trips and press trips, presentations and workshops, advertising in domestic and foreign media); and (v) implementing projects supported by EU funds and taking part in territorial co-operation activities (the project 'Strategy for the development of tourism in BSK to 2013', activities in CENTROPE).
