Surface Collection
Surface collection was conducted by the Archaeological Centre Olomouc, NPU Ostrava, and students of the University of Western Bohemia in PlzeÅ. Although different collection techniques were sometimes applied, they brought significant results.
Surface collection techniques- surface collection was conducted on the entire route of the future motorway with respect to areas suitable for this type of a survey, i.e. areas with the possibility of visual contact with archaeological finds, - fields after tillage were examined as well as areas with minimum vegetation surface, selected sites were examined repeatedly, - urban areas were left out, - obtained material was collected after each 10 m of the examined route, - individual sections were marked on the map as irregular discrete polygons, - a system of coordinates was created for better direction, - the objective was to collect detailed information on the scope and structure of possible archaeological sites in order to plan excavation areas more in detail. |
