The Slovak Film Union was set up as a civil association in March 1990, resuming operations in 1993 with the presentation of Igric Awards. It develops activities of a number of audiovisual production professions, presenting the Igric creative awards and prizes for audiovisual production jointly with the Literary Fund and the Union of Slovak Television Creators (ÚSTT). It also organises film projections, seminars and film festivals, and co-operates with the Czech professional organisation FITEZ.
