Why Study the MSc in E-Business Management?

This is a unique programme within the Irish postgraduate field. The MSc in E-Business Management is validated by the University of Wales, one of the UK's leading universities.

E-Business Management is thriving and has become an integral part of everyday life for public and private organisations, both large and small across the globe. Despite its popularity, the impact of e-Business - in economic, organisational and behavioural terms - is not fully understood. Technologies are constantly evolving and much depends on the social, organisational and institutional situations in which technologies are embedded. This course offers students with a unique opportunity to learn about and understand fundamental issues about electronic business, management, economics, and the implications of conducting business in an increasingly networked global environment.

Our curriculum is unique and has been developed to meet the emerging needs of businesses in a rapidly changing, global market. This programme equips graduates to work in a variety of sectors where e-business systems and managerial skills can help achieve competitive advantage.

How is the programme organised?

The MSc in E-Business Management is divided sequentially into two parts.

Part I - Students take a total of 8 modules over 2 semesters accumulating 120 credits.

Part II - The Dissertation

Semester 3: June - September

Part II, yielding 60 credits, is the supervised dissertation in which candidates exhibit in-depth knowledge in an area of specialisation.


Under the scheme of study, candidates who complete Part I and accumulate 120 credits, but do not complete Part II, can exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in International Business.

A Postgraduate Certificate in International Business is also available to students who pass 60 credits or more in Part I.

Lectures and Tutorials:

Classes run over two semesters from the beginning of October until May with breaks at Christmas and Easter. (MSc Calendar)

Assessment:

Assessment occurs at the end of each semester. Providing they have completed the taught element of the programme, students must then complete a supervised dissertation during the period June - October in order to obtain the MSc qualification.

What are the entry requirements?

  1. Candidates should hold one of the following qualifications:
    1. a recognised Bachelor degree that amounts to at least 180 ECTS credits to qualify for the award MSc in International Business
    2. a non-graduate qualification which the University of Wales has deemed to be of a satisfactory standard for the purpose of postgraduate admission.
  2. A non-graduate may also be admitted to candidature provided that he/she
    1. is aged 25 or over on or before the day on which he/she is required to register for the scheme of study
    2. and

    3. has held, for a minimum of two years, a responsible position which is relevant to the scheme to be pursued.

  1. Complete Portobello application form
  2. Complete University of Wales matriculation form. Read instructions carefully. Students need to be matriculated by the University of Wales before they are finally accepted.
  3. Submit a CV detailing any relevant work experience and transcripts of relevant academic qualifications.
  4. All applicants are expected to be competent in both written and spoken English having a minimum score of 750 -800 TOEIC (or equivalent)
  5. Students must also pass an interview
