Please note that the Law Society will not and cannot grant exemption from this examination. This Examination is held twice a year, usually in Winter and Summer. The closing date for applications is about six weeks before the examination. The First Irish Examination must be passed before an application can be made for consent from the Law Society to become a trainee solicitor. While you do not have to pass the First Irish Examination before you sit the FE-1 Examinations many students elect to do this course in or around the time they are preparing for their FE-1 Examinations.
