Why study law with you guys?

Why study law? Why would anyone not study law! Law is a gateway to a multitude of careers. Employers love law graduates. Parents love law graduates. Everyone loves law graduates! Those who study law develop a clear thought process and know how to work under pressure and to deadlines. Law students know how to assimilate large amounts of information and then come up with the succinct, correct answer. Law students feel the pressure of deadlines alright but they never succumb to them.

Law is interesting - very interesting. In the Law School we say law is the most interesting faculty though we admit may be we're a little biased. Fancy yourself as a criminal lawyer dealing with Ireland's most infamous? Come to Portobello Law School. Thinking instead of working in the commercial sphere on graduation whether in a law firm or in the IFSC? Come to Portobello Law School. Thinking still further of that wig and gown, tribunals and pots of money? Think Portobello Law School but don't blame us if the government reduces lawyer fees acting for the state in the meantime.

Choose law. Choose Portobello College Law School. Choose life.

Ok fighting talk but what happens when I finish?

Wrong question. Everything happens when you finish your LLB Law degree. Fancy any of these?

  • Solicitor in Ireland or England - we prepare you for both. He or she incidentally is the person you meet first and is like a GP. They know their law but when the going gets tough they look for a barrister
  • Barrister in Ireland (yes and England also if you fancy it). They're the specialists. They go around in the wig and gown running around with all those books looking for their solicitor and saying “M’lud” a lot.
  • New York Attorney. Seen LA law? These guys are a mix of barrister and solicitor and graduates are then less than a year from qualifying as a full New York lawyer. Yikes.
  • Masters Degree? PhD? Fancy lecturing in law? Our law degree can springboard you into Trinity Law School or Oxford or Cambridge or many other universities around the world.
  • Banker/Stockbroker/Trust Fund Manager/Candlestick maker. Everyone loves law graduates. The International Financial Services Sector in Dublin - IFSC - really like law graduates. Law may be just the beginning of another rewarding career for you
