Slovak Television Archives

Slovak Television Archive in its deposits preserves and protects a lot of children's, music, documentary, news and sports programmes, not only of its own production, but also from abroad. It also controls the archives of the Slovak Television, Banská Bystrica Television Studio and Slovak Television, Košice Television Studio. Altogether it is considered to be part of the cultural heritage of Slovakia. According to the type of the material, the Slovak television Archives are divided into Departments of Film, Video, Sound Recording and Written Documents (scenarios, photos, official records), plus a Department of Library and Information.

By way of example, the Film Department archives comprise 95,617 pictures in 16mm and 35mm formats, the Video Department has 116,510 clean copies, and different types of back up copies from 2”A,1”B, BTC analog and BTC digital to DVC PRO and x-DCAM, and the Sound Recording Department holds 34,846 materials ranging from phototapes and BAT to vinyl discs and CDs).

The Slovak Television Archives is a longtime member of the international TV archive organisation FIAT/IFTA.
