Daniel Gabriel Lichard Medal

The Director of the National Centre of Centre has presented awards to outstanding figures and prominent representatives of local and regional culture, amateur artistic production and traditional folk culture in Slovakia since 1996. The Daniel Gabriel Lichard Medal is awarded to individuals and collectives (ensembles, groups, choirs, playgroups, clubs) for long-standing high artistic excellence in amateur production; significant contribution to the development of cultural, educational, artistic activities under local and regional conditions; significant contribution to the theory of public education, citizenship education and leisure time activities; purposeful search for, preservation and dissemination of the assets of folk culture and education of their perceptors; successful presentation of national culture domestically and internationally; and outstanding creativity in the production and delivery of educational and non-artistic activities. Individuals receive recognition for achieving outstanding success on the occasion of an anniversary of the engagement in an area, or life jubilee; collectives are given recognition on the occasion of the foundation anniversary, and upon achievement of outstanding success.
