Vauxhall interchange
A new bus station with an adjusted road layout around the Vauxhall Cross is now complete.
Improvements at Vauxhall Cross are promised for bus users, pedestrians, cyclists and those changing between modes.
The key feature of the project is a new bus station situated on Bondway, a road in the centre of the junction. All the bus stops which were currently spread around the gyratory system have been moved to Bondway.
There are improved walkways between the bus station, tube station and South West Trains station, with a lift directly into the tube station.
A 40% increase in bus services is planned upon completion of the bus station. The bus station itself features a canopy roof designed by Arup, with solar panels to provide around 30% of the required power.
There are better cycle lanes around the interchange, and cycle storage racks at the bus station.
The new Vauxhall bus station opened on Saturday 4 December, serving 12 bus routes. According to TfL, the interchange will become fully operational in "mid December".
