Tamworth Road (Centrale) tram stop

A new tram stop for the Centrale retail development in Croydon is now open.

The developers of a new shopping centre (Centrale) in Croydon paid for a new tram stop to serve their development, under Section 106 obligations.

Unfortunately, the operators of Tramlink wouldn't have received enough extra revenue to justify serving the new tram stop, given its negative effects on the Tramlink timetable.

Fortunately, the problem has now been addressed, as TfL are funding increased maintenance to allow 22 out of 24 trams to be in service for the peak timetable, whilst a new tram is procured in the longer term.

A new service pattern has also been introduced using just two routes instead of the current three (which are Wimbledon - Elmers End, Croydon - Beckenham and Croydon - New Addington).

8tph (every 7-8 minutes)

6tph (every 10 minutes)
(doubling back on themselves between Arena and Croydon)

The stop opened on 10 December 2005.

The stop has been built for three-car trams, although only two-car trams operate on the Tramlink network at the moment.

A new tram stop on Tamworth Road in Croydon was opened on 10 December to serve the new Centrale shopping centre.

The opening of the new Tamworth Road tramstop serving the Centrale development in Croydon has been delayed whilst timetable changes and costs are finalised. The tramstop requires a new tram to be purchased and a route recast in order to maintain peak services on the Tramlink network.
