Trams to Kingston & M25
The South London Partnership lobbied for additional tram routes in South London including routes from Kingston to Sutton and the M25.
A number of extensions to the successful Croydon Tramlink system are already under consideration by TfL - these run to Sutton, Tooting, Purley, Streatham & Crystal Palace.
The South London Partnership is lobbying for these extensions to take place.
They were also calling for further extensions from Sutton and Wimbledon to Kingston, and from Kingston to an M25 Park-and-Ride site via Tolworth - but Kingston Council has dropped this scheme.
A route from Wimbledon to Kingston would probably run from near Merton Park tramstop down the Kingston Road via Wimbledon Chase station, Raynes Park station, New Malden (via Burlington Road) and then up the Kingston Road through Norbiton to Kingston town centre.
A route from Sutton to Kingston might run on-road via Cheam, North Cheam and Worcester Park station to New Malden and thence into Kingston.
The route from Kingston to the M25 could run to Tolworth via the Ewell Road through Surbiton, and then from Tolworth via Chessington North and South (possibly using the existing South West Trains branch, either sharing track with SWT trains or taking it over completely), past Chessington World of Adventures to a park-and-ride site at the M25's junction 9 near Leatherhead.
